Filmax International on one side and Telecinco Cinema & Think Studio on the other, announce that Filmax has acquired the international sales rights of SPANISH MOVIE, a hilarious review of internationally acclaimed hit films from Spain, a satire in the most Spanish of styles with a helping of American spoof star Leslie Nielsen (Airplane!).
Filmax will present the title at the American Film Market (LA, November 4-11). Filmax International spoke confidently about the film, prior to its presentation at AFM, “We are thrilled to present SPANISH MOVIE at AFM. We firmly believe this is going to be the Spanish hit of the year. People are definitely looking for some fun entertainment at the movies, to forget all about the recession for a while and SPANISH MOVIE really is great fun !» say Carles Rojano and Vicente Canales, from Filmax International.
Telecinco Cinema & Think Studio are currently getting ready for the Spanish release (Dec. 4) and are very proud of the film they’ve got in their hands « SPANISH MOVIE is the first film to parody the recent international box office hits coming out of Spain. ‘The Others’ (Alejandro Amenabar), ‘Pan’s Labyrinth ‘ (Guillermo del Toro), or [REC] (Jaume Balagueró & Paco Plaza) have inspired this film, which also makes wonderfully parodied references to ‘The Orphanage’, ‘Volver’ (Almodóvar) or ‘Alatriste’ (Agustín Díaz Yanes) to mention but a few” says Eneko Lizarraga, from Think Studio.
Spanish Movie, large doses of humour, ingenious winks of recognition to Spain’s recent films, a cast carefully selected for their comic roles and a decent store of surprises together constitute the ingredients of this off-beat comedy.
- More disturbing than THE OTHERS
- More highly charged than THE ORPHANAGE
- More terrifying than [REC]
…well, maybe not, but FAR MORE FUN!
