Jaume Balagueró’s latest film, the psychological thriller Sleep Tight, is turning out to be quite a success story. The film has been making waves on the international festival circuit ever since its world premiere at the celebrated Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. The film has since been shown at Busan International Film Festival in Korea before having its Spanish premiere in Sitges, where Balagueró was also awarded the prestigious Time Machine award for his contribution to genre cinema.

The film was given wide release by Filmax last Friday 14th October with 285 copies and has accumulated over 1.2 million US$ at the Spanish box office in its first weekend.
The film has been unanimously well-received by the public and critics alike. AUSTIN DAZE described the film as “Aasterfully crafted psychological creep-out”, while SHOCK TILL YOU DROP praises the work of the director saying that “Balagueró comes out on top with an unsettling slice of Hitchcockian storytelling that comes very much recommended.”
